Woodworm Observation

Expert identification and assessment of timber infestations.

Expert Identification

Our woodworm experts are trained to identify and assess problem areas, finding the root cause to determine the most suited course of action.

Not all woodworm infestations are active. Our in-depth understanding enables us to provide efficient, effective, and tailored solutions.

Why a Professional Survey Matters

  • Identify if the infestation is currently active or historic.
  • Determine the specific species of beetle (Common Furniture Beetle, Death Watch Beetle, etc.).
  • Assess the structural integrity of the affected timbers.

Signs to Look For

Flight Holes

Small, round holes (typically 1-2mm in diameter) in woodwork, similar to holes in a dartboard. These are exit holes where adult beetles have emerged.

Bore Dust (Frass)

Fine, powdery dust found below or beside the flight holes. This is essentially the waste produced by the larvae as they tunnel through the wood.

Crumbling Wood

Edges of floorboards, joists, or roof timbers that appear to be crumbling or breaking away easily, indicating severe internal damage.
